The surf etiquette is a suitable code of behavior developed to keep everyone else happy and safe in the sport. It is very important to memorize and respect these rules to avoid absolute insanity. Stick with those unwritten rules to help others and yourself else out of trouble.

Here are the Principles of the surf etiquette:

    1. Right-of-way

The closest to the peak of this wave has the right of way. In addition, the surfer furthest first or out to his feet has the best to be on the tide. In all these cases other surfers will have to allow the tide pass. Learn these’rules’ and act accordingly.

    2. DO NOT DROP IN

Dropping in may be the action of stealing somebody’s wave described at point 1. By doing this you’ll create a dangerous situation for you personally and the other consumers. Collision can occur, planks and bones can break. It is a lousy idea and everyone else will likely be annoyed.

    3. PADDLING RULES

Don’t snore right to the lineup where the waves are breaking and people are surfing. It is safer and wiser to paddle through a channel where you can find less odds of a runin. If you see a surfer coming towards you, estimate his leadership and paddle the other way.

    4. DO NOT DITCH BOARD

Always maintain contact and control with your surfboard. If
surfing in Newquay see a wall of white water coming in your direction personally, don’t throw your board as it may hit somebody . Find out to duckdive.

    5. DO NOT SNAKE

Paddling around someone to get priority on the wave is called snaking. This can be very annoying and if done a large no-no.

    6. SHARE WAVES

Longboarders, kayakers, stand-up paddlers and much more experienced surfers are able to capture waves much sooner and easier departing very little for additional consumers. It does not hurt to leave 1 wave for the shortboarders inside. To share is to care!

    7. RESPECT THE BEACH

Throw your garbage in trash cans and don’t vandalise in any way.

    8. RESPECT LOCALS

Give respect to the consumers who browse the area daily. Behave friendly and don’t over crowd the spot with a massive group. Respect the vibe in the water.

    9. HELP OTHER SURFERS

Be aware of each other and always enable a surfer in some trouble. You could potentially save someone’s life.

    10. BE PATIENT AND HAVE FUN

Wait for your turn to get yourself a wave. Finally it should come. Be friendly and have fun.

    11. IF YOU Damage: APOLOGIZE

It’s perhaps not the end of the world in the event that you unintentionally mess up one of these rules. Apologize and grin. They will forgive the first moment.
