I think that the aspect that was really most important–and I’m sure that’s why Mike D2R Items and the former president of Blizzardwas able to choose me to take on this position was being aware that Blizzard is a true developer-led business and that the technology and the game focus that we have (are) present, throughout all the leadership levels, and is extremely important and strong.
One of the first things that I implemented was to add Ray Gresko on as the chief development officer. Then, I include Allen Adham to the executive team to bring the percentage of employees that are creating games, and also recently produced games significantly higher. It’s about refocusing our primary goal and an emphasis on what has made Blizzard’s great games. This is sort of the beginning of our efforts to accomplish.
Through the course of this year, we’ve reviewed all the various projects that we’re working on. We’ve looked at various activities that we’re doing that we felt like we should have more time for. We looked at a variety of things that we were doing that we thought we could do better at. Then we’ve come up with the launch of Diablo Classic, which has been just a great moment for us. We were also at the Diablo League for season two and getting ready to head into the final stretch in the calendar with BlizzCon. So , it’s been a enjoyable ride here.
If you don’t be able to clearly see what Blizzard is doing in the present, what do have you to say regarding recent shakeups on the executive level and layoffs? And what nature of the direction that you want to take it into?
I think that the main thing that is real, has always been the case and will continue to continue to be so in the future, is that we are driven by values and are a values-driven business. We also make some of our buy D2R Ladder Items biggest strategic decisions using that lens.
