Excellent FAQ, answers a whole lot of PSO2 Meseta my first doubts. Gosh, this seems so complex. On the one hand, kudos for keeping the game intact so that there will not be a riot over changes people don’t like. However on the other hand, since they’re remaking base PSO2 visuals anyhow, I wish they’d only go 100% and synchronize character models completely. Giving old players some free fashion items and unlocks would be enough to bribe everyone to accept the new system.
Synchronizing 100% personality models doesn’t seem easy. The problem is that the older outfits and layer use are modeled to fit the older pso2 body. In order to synchronize it, they’d have to recreate from scratch (haha pun) 8 decades of makeup. That’s unlikely to occur. I mean that I would be willing to drop a certain proportion of these cosmetics to help keep things intact across variations. Provided that there’s a steady feed of cool new things to replace it, I do not mind. I always rotate out my older appearances anyway. As long as the character models translate 1:1 it’ll still feel like mine.
I would imagine a massive complication to that entails a great deal of the cosmetics from the Western side of things that were exclusive to collaborations, promotional events, and events which no longer exist. The example I can think of is the Monster Hunter Frontier Z collaboration where I could envision the clothes and weapons could definitely be provided a visual update together with everything else but I do not exactly understand how the licensing or the way the lawful side of this collaboration functions where I’d wish it was as easy as Sega going through and updating the assets but I don’t understand about just how much Capcom is involved in this process.
The same applies to collaborations like the Final Fantasy XIV collaboration with Odin (which still exists as far as I know) where I don’t know how much Square Enix is involved in that for Sega to have the ability to upgrade assets . If it was only just Phantasy Star-related things (such as character outfits, cameos from different games, or alternative Sega-related possessions ) I could envision this likely would have been done, or would be carried out. But from the Global version we don’t have the presence of Cougar NX therefore that I do not exactly know if there are additional complications seeing Sega’s properties that may also contribute not to upgrading everything they can within reason.
I can imagine that probably out there we’ll still see somebody wearing those old collaboration items even if they aren’t awakened to the same criteria as new cosmetics at an identical way and that there surely would have been outrage when it was made unusable or obsolete. Collabs that have experienced their cosmetics removed still have their resources exist on the sport so those will likely still be available for pso2 sales jp players.
