That’s a fair point. It is certainly an unfortunate part of a localized version so late: you either start fresh and you do not get the veterans that have been playing for quite a while since they don’t want to shed years of progress, or you also allow them to PSO2 Meseta keep that advancement and risk alienating the new audience. I personally would be fine with starting over, but as I mentioned I have some stuff that is not really available anymore other than other players (most especially my Neptunia collab outfit). The obvious remedy to this is to permitting players to carry over decorative items and not levels/equipment, but that’s dev time they might not be eager to put in.
The fan patch misses some bits and pieces, most especially mid to tutorials. I had no clue how to use mechs when I started because not one of its associated tutorials were interpreted. It is mostly stuff that old players won’t notice (since they do not need tutorials), but players that finally don’t get to finish game will not see (tutorials that seem after gamers that were not interested in Phantasy Star Online 2 ceased playing). It is just a continuing fan translation project’s inherent weakness: they need to prioritize what to work on next, and sometimes things slip through. No one is gont say that the Emergency Code voice overs are worthy of translation than story content.
PSO takes place millenia after the original series. The story there via single player missions in addition to missions that are online. Additionally, it is advised through weapon text. The final boss is Dark Force(Dulk Falz). There is lots of references to the titles here and there. And that’s just episode 1. The story follows the player character going through dungeons discovering notes left by the Ship’s leader’s Daughter who made to learn more about the planet. As you go through and follow along with clues and unlock new dungeons you find out she has been murdered and assimilated to deliver to Dark Force’s new incarnation.
You have to fight with his giant form and discover he was taken and experimented on using Force DNA. If you use of the”Red” Weapons, which have been his gift to his student, to kill him his apparition appears in the event that you return to the boss room after defeating him. It’s been over a decade since I’ve played with it so I’m sure I am missing many details and I did not play the first 4 RPGs but there is undoubtedly story and and there are, again lots of references inside, particularly in firearms and their flavour texts, to the old games.
No idea how long PSO2 will hold my attention, but I’m 100% down to give it a shot given just how much I enjoyed the original. Tried playing on JP many ages past, however, the latency was somewhat much to enjoy from the coast. At this point I might as well await NA servers, although I’m west coast now. They do not give the Xbox One players too much of a head start over us Windows players.Interesting that you cite latency being a problem. The combat definitely was not on a delay which is what I have to cheap Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta any JP server.
